Evaluation of the Feasibility on the Application of Information for the Prevention of Macular Degeneration

    Abstract

    This study were to perform the evaluation of feasibility on the application of information for the prevention of macular degeneration. Data were surveyed using interview and questionnaires by 162 patients who had visited a general hospital located in C area from November 27 to January 30, 2017. The results were as follows. Firstly, in terms of intraocular pressure, the mean(14.6 points) after application of information is significantly higher than the mean(1.9 points) before application of information(t=-1.63, p<.01). Secondly, in terms of eye discomfort, disease group(71.6%) was significantly higher than normal group(33.3%, X2=2.59, p<.05). Thirdly, for economic status, monthly average income was significantly 0.62 times lower in over 200 million won than below 200 million won(OR=0.62, 95% Cl=0.27-0.85). In conclusion, we can prevent and delay eye health problems through changes in health and lifestyle patterns.
